When an online consultation may not be enough
Online consultations make healthcare more accessible, but some concerns require in-person assessment or specialist care. At OneMedicine we are unable to routinely assist with the following online:
- Medications & prescriptions: Controlled drug prescriptions, including strong pain relief, anxiety and depression medications, and sleep aids.
- Emergency symptoms: Severe chest pain, sudden onset of severe pain, sudden difficulty breathing, major trauma (including head or neck injuries), persistent breathlessness, or high fever with disorientation.
- NHS services: NHS referrals and NHS prescriptions.
- Medical documentation: Fitness assessments, certificates of health, and complex medical forms.
- Severe mental health concerns: Severe psychiatric disorders (such as psychosis or suicidal ideation), mental health concerns for individuals under 18years.
- Specialist care requirements: Neurological issues (e.g., seizures), sudden or heavy bleeding, pregnancy complications, and chemotherapy-related complications.
- COVID-19 testing & dental issues: COVID tests and dental treatments.
- Language services: Translation services are not available; all consultations are conducted in English.
For these conditions, please seek in-person care or emergency assistance as needed.
