Tired All The Time

Feeling tired all the time?

Feeling tired all the time is a common issue in today’s busy world, but persistent fatigue should not be ignored. If you find yourself constantly exhausted, it may be time to look beyond lifestyle factors and consider potential underlying health issues. Chronic fatigue can sometimes be a sign of more serious medical conditions, and addressing it early can significantly improve your quality of life.

At OneMedicine, our tired all the time consultation offers a thorough assessment to help identify the root causes of your fatigue and provide personalised recommendations for recovery.

Why fatigue should not be ignored

While lifestyle factors like stress, poor sleep, or diet can contribute to fatigue, ongoing tiredness can also signal underlying health issues, such as hormonal imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, or even chronic conditions like anaemia or diabetes. If you have been experiencing prolonged fatigue, it’s essential to consult a GP for a comprehensive evaluation.

What is included in the tired all the time consultation?

Led by Dr Ahmed, our consultation provides a complete health assessment aimed at uncovering the potential causes of your fatigue. After reviewing your medical history and lifestyle, Dr Ahmed will recommend a series of tests tailored to your individual needs. These may include:

  • Vital signs check: Monitoring your height, weight, blood pressure, and BMI to assess overall health.
  • Comprehensive blood tests: A full blood count (FBC) will be conducted to identify anaemia, infections, or other conditions that might be contributing to fatigue.
  • Liver and kidney function tests: Assessments of liver and renal function, electrolytes, and calcium levels to ensure your organs are functioning properly.
  • Thyroid function tests: Evaluating thyroid hormones, including TSH, free T4, free T3, cortisol, to rule out thyroid dysfunction, a common cause of chronic fatigue.
  • Hormonal tests for men: Measuring testosterone, SHBG, and LH levels to check for hormone imbalances that can lead to fatigue.
  • Hormonal tests for women: Assessing oestradiol, FSH, LH, progesterone, and testosterone levels to identify potential hormone-related causes of fatigue, such as perimenopause or menopause.
  • Cancer marker screening: For women, ovarian cancer markers are tested, and for men, prostate cancer markers are evaluated to rule out cancer-related fatigue.
  • Urinalysis: Analysing urine samples to identify risks for diabetes, anaemia, and cardiovascular disease, which can all contribute to feelings of chronic tiredness.
  • Cholesterol and metabolic health: Assessing cholesterol levels and checking for risks related to liver and kidney disease, which can affect your energy levels.

Personalised care and guidance

Once your tests are completed, Dr Ahmed will review the results with you and provide expert advice on managing your fatigue. Whether the issue is related to lifestyle factors or an underlying health condition, you’ll receive tailored recommendations for improving your energy levels, including changes to diet, exercise, or treatments that may be necessary to address specific conditions.
