Feeling Tired All The Time?

Feeling tired all the time is a common issue in today’s busy world, but persistent fatigue should not be ignored. If you find yourself constantly exhausted, it may be time to look beyond lifestyle factors and consider potential underlying health issues. Chronic fatigue can sometimes be a sign of more serious medical conditions, and addressing it early can significantly improve your quality of life.

At OneMedicine, our tired all the time consultation offers a thorough assessment to help identify the root causes of your fatigue and provide personalised recommendations for recovery.

Why fatigue should not be ignored

While lifestyle factors like stress, poor sleep, or diet can contribute to fatigue, ongoing tiredness can also be a sign of an underlying health issue. This may include hormonal imbalance, thyroid dysfunction, anaemia, diabetes, or other chronic medical conditions.

If you have been feeling tired for a prolonged period, it is important to speak to a GP for a comprehensive assessment and appropriate testing.

What is included in the tired all the time consultation?

Led by Dr Ahmed, our consultation provides a complete health assessment aimed at uncovering the possible causes of your fatigue. After reviewing your medical history, symptoms, lifestyle, sleep, stress levels, and general health, Dr Ahmed will recommend tests tailored to your individual needs.

Vital signs check: Height, weight, blood pressure, and BMI to assess your overall health.
Comprehensive blood tests: A full blood count to check for anaemia, infection, inflammation, or other causes of fatigue.
Liver and kidney function tests: Assessment of liver function, kidney function, electrolytes, and calcium levels.
Thyroid function tests: Testing thyroid hormones including TSH, free T4, and free T3, with cortisol considered where clinically appropriate.
Hormonal tests for men: Testosterone, SHBG, and LH levels to assess for hormone imbalance.
Hormonal tests for women: Oestradiol, FSH, LH, progesterone, and testosterone levels to assess possible hormone-related causes such as perimenopause or menopause.
Cancer marker screening: Where clinically appropriate, ovarian cancer markers for women and prostate cancer markers for men may be considered.
Urinalysis: A urine check to screen for signs of infection, diabetes, kidney issues, or other abnormalities.
Cholesterol and metabolic health: Assessment of cholesterol, blood sugar risk, and wider metabolic health factors that can affect energy levels.

Personalised care and guidance

Once your results are available, Dr Ahmed will review them with you and explain what they mean in clear, simple terms. You will receive tailored advice to help improve your energy levels, whether the cause is related to lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, hormones, or an underlying medical condition requiring treatment.
