Professor Khan is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with over 17 years of experience at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, one of the largest university teaching hospitals in the UK. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, including coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, hypertension, and unexplained syncope. His clinical expertise includes complex angioplasty, ECG interpretation, echocardiography, and long-term cardiac care.
Professor Khan leads a regional service for presurgical cardiovascular optimisation, helping high-risk patients across the West Midlands safely undergo major surgery. This involves thorough cardiac risk assessment, advanced diagnostics, and tailored treatment plans in collaboration with surgical and anaesthetic teams. His service plays a key role in reducing perioperative complications and improving outcomes for patients with underlying heart conditions.
