Local prescribing delays
Many Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) have not yet approved Mounjaro services. In those areas, GPs are advised not to prescribe the medication at all.

We may prescribe Mounjaro to patients with:
BMI ≥ 30
Where weight loss is clearly indicated
BMI ≥ 27 with any of the following:
- Type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Obstructive sleep apnoea
- Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
- Cardiovascular disease or high cardiovascular risk
We also consider:
- Previous treatment failures
- Medical need despite NHS ineligibility
- Motivation and ability to follow a treatment plan

Prescribing Safely and Responsibly
We do not offer Mounjaro to patients who:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy
- Have a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2 syndrome

All patients receive appropriate blood tests, medical screening, and follow-up reviews throughout treatment.
