What to Bring to Your Taxi Driver Medical
To make sure your appointment runs smoothly, please bring:
- Relevant medical history – A full GP summary is required, which you can get for free from your GP, or on your NHS App. For public service vehicle (psv) licence medicals, this is essential. If you have trouble obtaining it, let us know for guidance.
- Glasses prescription – If you use glasses or contact lenses while driving, bring your up-to-date eye prescription (available from your optician).
- Medical test results – Bring any relevant medical test results.
- Current medications – A repeat prescription is ideal.
- ID – Passport or drivers licence, plus any other required IDs.
- Application form – Bring your completed form, supplied by your licensing council.

Important Information for Drivers
Free re-test
Heart conditions – If you’ve had ischaemic heart disease (heart attack, angina, or stent), you will need a cardiologist-supervised treadmill test. This is not included in the standard medical.
Diabetes – Insulin-dependent drivers require annual specialist reviews and daily blood sugar monitoring. Drivers on tablets must also check blood sugar daily.
High blood pressure – If on medication, bring at least three home blood pressure readings taken on different days.
Please note: in the event that you do not pass the medical we cannot refund the cost.
At OneMedicine, we understand that unexpected factors may impact the outcome of your medical assessment.
If you do not pass, we offer a free re-assessment within 60 days of the original test. Please note that this re-test must be completed within the 60-day window, not just scheduled. After this period, the free re-assessment offer will no longer apply.
This policy ensures you have a second chance to meet the necessary health requirements without additional cost, giving you time to address any concerns.
