ADHD Assessment Process

How Our ADHD Assessment Works

Comprehensive assessment and support for children and adults

Our 6-Step Assessment Process

1

FREE Pre-assessment Questionnaires & Triage

We review your goals, history and any urgent concerns, and explain the pathway clearly.

2

Comprehensive Clinical Interview

A detailed, structured conversation covering development, education/work, strengths and challenges. For children, we meet parents/carers; with consent we gather teacher input.

3

Standardised Measures & Objective Testing

We use recognised rating scales (adult/child) and, where appropriate, objective attention/activity testing (e.g., computer-based tasks) to add clarity.

4

Differential Screening

We consider other factors that can mimic or coexist with ADHD (e.g., anxiety, depression, sleep issues, autistic traits, learning differences, thyroid/iron deficiency) and advise on any recommended checks.

5

Feedback, Diagnosis & Plan

You’ll receive a clear explanation of findings. If criteria are met, we discuss diagnosis and a tailored support plan. If not, we suggest next steps that fit your needs.

6

Written Report You Can Use

A plain-English report summarising assessment, conclusions and recommendations—suitable to share with your GP, school, university or workplace.

Adult Assessment Focus

We look at your history across school, university, work and home; map strengths; and recommend adjustments (e.g., workload structure, meeting strategies, reasonable adjustments).

Yes—if clinically appropriate. We’ll explain options, benefits and side-effects, arrange monitoring, and can liaise with your NHS GP (with consent).

No. Self-referrals are welcome. We can also accept clinician referrals if you prefer.

Many parts of the assessment work well by secure video. For some individuals (especially younger children), certain elements may be best completed in person—we’ll advise what ensures accuracy and comfort.

Most people complete screening and the main assessment over one to two appointments, with feedback shortly after. Timelines vary with complexity and the need for school/work input.

Yes. We consider anxiety, depression, autistic traits, learning differences, sleep issues and relevant medical factors, and signpost any further assessments or tests.

That’s the goal. We include practical recommendations and suggested reasonable adjustments that you can share with education providers or your employer.
