Emergency Contraception – Here When You Need It

West Midlands

If you’ve had unprotected sex or your usual contraception didn’t go as planned, emergency contraception can help prevent an unplanned pregnancy. Often called the “morning-after pill,” it’s a safe and effective option when taken in time.

At OneMedicine, we’re here to offer judgment-free support, clear guidance, and easy access to emergency contraception when you need it most.

Cost

  • Morning after pill prescription :

Ellaone (upto 5 day) £20

Levonelle (upto 3 day) £20

How to ask for emergency contraception?

Requesting emergency contraception is simple. Just let us know during your appointment that you need the “morning-after pill” or emergency birth control, and we’ll take care of the rest. Our team is here to support you with kindness, discretion, and expert advice.

What to expect at Medicine?

Step 1: A Friendly, Confidential Consultation

We’ll start with a quick chat to understand your situation. We may ask about the timing of intercourse, your menstrual cycle, and any recent contraceptive use. This helps us recommend the best option for you.

Step 2: Exploring Your Options

Emergency contraception isn’t one-size-fits-all, so we’ll talk you through:

✔ Levonelle – Works up to 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex.
✔ EllaOne – Works up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex.
✔ Copper IUD – Can be fitted up to 5 days after and is also a long-term contraceptive option.

Step 3: Getting Your Medication

If a pill is the best choice for you, we can provide it during your visit or issue a prescription. We’ll also let you know if it’s available over the counter at a pharmacy.

Step 4: Guidance & Reassurance

We’ll explain exactly how to take your emergency contraception for the best results, what to expect, and any possible side effects, like nausea or temporary changes to your cycle. If you have any worries, we’re here to help.

Step 5: Follow-Up & Ongoing Support

If your period is late, we may recommend a pregnancy test. We can also chat about longer-term contraception options to help you feel more in control moving forward. Whatever you need, we’re here for you.

When should you consider emergency contraception?

Emergency contraception is most effective the sooner you take it after unprotected sex. Some options work for up to five days, but acting quickly gives you the best chance of preventing pregnancy. If you’re unsure about what to do next, just reach out – we’re happy to help.

Do you have other questions?
