Saudi Visa Medical Examination – What to Expect
If you’re applying for a long-term visa for Saudi Arabia (such as a work or student visa), a comprehensive medical examination is usually required as part of the application process. We offer a full visa medical screening that meets official embassy and consulate requirements at time of writing, however these may change or be province dependent, please double check with the Saudi Embassy current requirements.
Physical Examination
A full clinical assessment will be performed by a doctor to ensure you’re fit to travel and work or study in Saudi Arabia. This includes:
✔ Height and weight measurements
✔ Vision (visual acuity) testing
✔ Systematic examination of:
- Respiratory system
- Cardiovascular system
- Abdominal system
- Neurological system
- Musculoskeletal system
Cardiac Assessment
12-lead Resting ECG
A heart tracing will be carried out to assess your heart rhythm and function.
Laboratory Tests
These blood and urine tests are required to screen for infectious diseases and assess general health:
Blood Tests
✔ Syphilis screening
✔ HIV test (including confirmatory if needed)
✔ Hepatitis B (HBsAg)
✔ Hepatitis C antibody
✔ Bilharzia
✔ Malarial parasite
✔ Full blood count
✔ Blood group typing
✔ Liver function
✔ Kidney function
✔ (Pregnancy test)
Urinalysis
✔ Tests for protein, glucose, and blood in the urine
Imaging
Chest X-ray
A chest X-ray is performed to screen for pulmonary infections such as tuberculosis (TB).
What you need to bring
- Completed medical form
- 1 recent passport-sized photo
- Your passport
- Glasses or contact lenses (if worn)
Important information and tips for your visa medical
- Timing and scheduling: It’s best to book your visa medical well in advance of your planned travel date to allow time for any additional tests or follow-up appointments.
- Document preparation: Ensure that all necessary documents are completed and brought to your appointment to avoid any delays. Missing documents can result in rescheduling your medical.
- After your medical: Once all tests are completed, your results and final medical report will be prepared within 4 working days. You will receive a PDF copy via email and the original by recorded delivery.
- Refund policy: Unfortunately, we cannot refund the cost of your medical if your visa application is not successful. Please ensure all other visa requirements are met before scheduling your medical.
